A Great Girls’ Day Out

A Great Girls’ Day Out

I am extremely fortunate to have a group of girlfriends that are always willing to go out, whether it is for a quick coffee catch up or even a weekend road trip, they are always there to help create memories that we will never forget.

Since living in Townsville for about 8 years, I have found that there are some excellent opportunities for ladies within the area to have a fun filled day away from the boys and embrace what it means to be a woman.

High Tea

My favourite thing to do with the ladies is a High Tea.

Now I have dragged my whinging husband along to many high teas in our time together, which include the fancy ones in New York and Hawaii, and while I love my husband dearly, I found this activity to be best experienced with some of your girlfriends.

In Townsville that I know of (and that I have experienced), there are two places – Hervey’s Range Heritage Tea Rooms and Tumbetin Tea Rooms, both of which have a lovely location and great food.

The one and only catch with organising a high tea is that you have to make sure that you book and pay in advance so all the little bite sized treats can be made by the day.

Day Trip to Magnetic Island

Another great idea for a ladies day out is to go over to Magnetic Island.

Now, I know that some people will say that it is too expensive, but if you car pool down to the ferry, take your own esky with food and drinks, then you really only have to pay the ferry trip ($29 per adult – return if bought online at http://www.sealinkqld.com.au) and you are on your way to having your own little piece of paradise.

When you are over there, take the time to enjoy what the island has to offer; sun, sand and relaxation, all the while having a picnic near the waterfront and catching up with the lovely ladies that have come along for the day.

Lunch, Pedicure & Movies

My third favourite ladies day activity that can involve anyone includes a casual lunch, pedicure and a trip to the local movie theatre.

Now, since there is a lot going on during this day, it provides the opportunity for people to do everything or to just choose one and come along and enjoy the fun. I love starting off a girl’s day out with a pedicure in the morning at a nail salon and see my ugly toenails transform into bright, colourful works of art that I am proud to show off to the world.

Then my friends and I would car pool (if possible) to a café or restaurant near the cinemas for a lovely light lunch and a few beverages before the movie would start.

While this is a full day of activities, there is no pressure for anyone to commit to everything, which is a nice way to include more of your friends in a girlie day out.

So these are just three ideas that my friends and I enjoy doing as a group, but if you have any suggestions on where we should go for our next girlie day, please make a comment below as I would love to hear your ideas on the concept.
