A short drive from Townsville, the Herveys Range Heritage Tea Rooms are a popular destination for special occasions like birthdays, baby showers and weddings, as well as casual diners for breakfast, lunch and snacks.  Not only is there plenty of seating and dining areas, there are beautiful shaded grassy areas for picnics.

There is also a separate function area which includes a bar and plenty of space for tables to be set up – think wedding reception!

On the Tea Rooms Menu is a range of light lunches, cakes, scones, savouries and sandwiches.  You are just as spoiled for choice with the drinks menu featuring many varieties of teas, milkshakes and coffees.  Cross an item off your bucket list and have a cup of Kopi Luwak Coffee – the most expensive coffee in the world!

For the kids there is even an adorable Fairy Garden to explore.

The history is evident where ever you wander around the property.  From the old building itself, to the plaques detailing the owners of the past and the many faces the Tea Rooms have had.  The building is like stepping into the past and old newspaper articles hung framed on the walls tell the story of the local area. You can’t help but wonder about how many boots have walked across the old floorboards since 1865!

Taking advantage of the property, the owners have marked out a short bushwalk for visitors to enjoy.  This takes you around the boundary and lets you appreciate this little slice of Australia.  We were surprised to find half way through the walk signs pointing to “Portal 6” and signs about the Greenvale Rail.  At the bottom of a neighbouring gully and running directly underneath the property is a now disused railway and deserted tunnels!

Yet another interesting fact from days gone by.

The walk back to the Tea Rooms takes you past the dam and here you may find local birds and wildlife.  We were lucky enough to see a wallaby and a lot of different birds.  The photo opportunities are abundant.

A Bush Chapel has been built near the main building and it’s semi-secluded location only adds to it’s romantic charm.

If you are looking for a location for your wedding, commitment or naming day ceremony then I definitely recommend you add the Heritage Tea Rooms to your list of places to consider.

The Herveys Range Heritage Tea Rooms have been operating in it’s current form since 2005 and has won many awards, accolades and hearts.  It’s the kind of place you can’t just visit once.  You will want to go back time and time again to enjoy the peaceful surroundings, good coffee and delicious scones.

Herveys Range Heritage Tea Rooms is located on Hervey Range and is easy to find, just follow Hervey Range road out of Townsville and it’s about a 30 minute drive.
