Stable on the Strand 2018
Townsville’s premier Christmas event returns for it’s 17th year…
Every year leading up to Christmas, Townsville’s Strand Park is transformed with the spirit of Christmas! Volunteers from all around the city join together to bring locals and visitors alike a family friendly event not to be missed.
Stable on the Strand brings the community together to celebrate the Christmas Story and the birth of Jesus Christ. Many visitors continue to visit year after year as the event becomes part of their yearly calendar.
Strand Park is transformed into the town of Bethlehem where visitors can walk through the buildings, interact with characters from the Bible, participate in re-enactments and stories, join in on a craft workshop, pat a farm animal or two, and say hello to baby Jesus.
Joy To The World
The theme of this year’s Stable on the Strand is Joy To The World.
It is a message for all – children, teens, adults and seniors – and relevant whether or not you are associated with a church and the Christian faith.
2018’s Festival will delight visitors of all ages – there’s something for everyone!
Visitors to Stable on the Strand experience the Christmas story of the birth of Jesus and often continue to come back each year, making it a family tradition for many.
This year the big stage lights up again with a stellar line-up including:
- Well-loved children’s entertainer Colin Buchanan
- The return of One Life presenting The Greatest Story Ever Told – an entertaining adaption of well known and loved songs combined with story telling
- Indigenous gospel singer Pat Morgan who is celebrating her 50th year in gospel music ministry.
- YWAM Paradise bring their unique island sounds to the stage, sure to have visitors young and old up and dancing
The free carousel is always a crowd favourite!

Give a friendly pat to one of the many farm animals you’ll meet along the way and be sure to take a peek in the manger where you will find a sleeping baby Jesus.
