We explore the playground at Dan Gleeson Memorial Gardens in Kirwan

When I set the location for the first Townsville Women Mums, Bubs & Kids meet-up at Dan Gleeson Memorial Gardens I was basing it off things I had heard from other people as we had never been there – despite living nearby!

Thankfully the playground area turned out to be a great location for our group and I’d be happy to recommend this spot for anyone looking for somewhere fun to let the kids run around or a nice outdoor birthday party venue.

Dan Gleeson Memorial Gardens are located on Thuringowa Drive, Kirwan.  The completely fenced playground area can be found in the back corner and is easily accessible from the rear of the Thuringowa Library on Hinchinbrook Drive.

The “Castle” themed playground is set into different sections with the majority of play equipment covered with shade sails and features soft rubber mat on the ground for safety.

Tall leafy trees surround the entire perimeter creating a breezy and shady place to play.

There are a couple of undercover picnic tables and a BBQ that was perhaps the cleanest, shiniest public BBQ I’ve ever seen!

The playground has been designed with a castle theme throughout with beautiful tiled mosaics and mysterious stones guarded by a lion.

Our two crazy girls LOVED this playground! There’s a lot of variety and enough to keep kids of all ages entertained.

So much fun to be had!
